I am beyond thrilled to be speaking with Amy Edmondson on the What’s Next! Podcast! THIS EPISODE IS PERFECT FOR… leaders, team members, those afraid to use their voice, and those who are afraid of not having all the answers! TODAY’S MAIN MESSAGE… We live in a world where expertise is increasingly narrower and deeper than ever before, and Amy wants you to know that it is okay not to know ALL the answers. In fact, NOBODY knows all the answers! The world is changing so fast that even if you knew everything “today,” it’s a given you wouldn’t know everything that there was to know “tomorrow.” So, according to Amy, you might as well get comfortable with not knowing and learn to turn it into something positive as opposed to shameful. Being comfortable with not knowing and being open to constantly learning is more critical than ever before in a world that is suddenly, drastically different and requiring more flexibility than ever before. To that end, Amy is tackling what she calls “psychological safety.” It’s okay to speak up–it’s necessary–and it’s important to ask for help. There should be a conviction in you that it is okay to speak up and that your voice is welcome. It is incumbent upon great teams and great leaders to create an environment where it is safe, encouraged, and rewarded to take the risk and speak up–even when and especially when it isn’t “good news.” If you listen people will speak! WHAT I LOVE MOST… There should be a conviction in you that it is okay to speak up and that your voice is welcome.
