Tuesday, September 11th, 2001, we made a promise to never forget the tragedy that befell our country that day. We vowed to remain committed to one another as one united nation, especially during the worst of times. We were faced with the realization that other people wanted to control our country and weaken our system by driving us apart and dividing us down as small as they can. What"s even more important to remember is how we all came together in unity to ensure we are all safe and have each other"s backs in trying times. Yet somehow we tend to lose sight of that bond with our neighbors, that commitment to our beloved country. These days, we are being forced to choose sides by the same people who swear to speak for all of us. We are told our sacrifices matter if we serve our country, only to be lucky enough to return from war to be tossed aside and spat on rather than seen as a valuable hero protecting our freedoms most people take for granted.  As a community, we have to rise above and do the right and honorable thing for our veterans by protecting them now they are safely back home. Part of forgetting is not teaching the next generation. Remembering the past is showing gratitude to the heroes that deserve our attention and need our assistance most now every day. Sometimes those battles are still raging in a person"s mental space, so remember to be kind, stay humble, and remain free every day.
