I was unsure what to expect when I met Laura, I was connected to her by pervious podcast guest Camilla Ruth Marcus. I knew she was lovely via email, Camilla spoke highly of her, and that she had a thriving career in the NYC hospitality industry but that was about it. Days before our interview she sent me a keynote she'd given a few months prior. I read the 12 pages on a long train train and found myself fully weeping by the time I arrived at my stop.  When I spoke to her in her cozy West Village apartment a few days later it was clear immediately she'd worked in hospitality her entire career. She is a host through and through, I felt so cozy in her space chatting with her about our fascinating story for hours. I loved learning about the hospitality industry, how she navigated a having rare cancer in the prime of her career, her experience with the medical industry, and how she used her cancer as a learning opportunity to discovering food as medicine, shifting her perspective on death, intuition, and listening to her body. We cover tips for those dealing with a cancer diagnosis, in the hospitality industry or wanting to be as well as for being a patron, networking,  and seeing things from a new lens.  Notes from the Show: - Laura Wagstaff on Instagram | The Nomad Hotel (Laura is the Special Events Director) - NYC Spots we talked about: Mama Medicine | Ash Center of Comprehensive Medicine | Flower Power | 10th street in NYC | Maha Rose | Anima Mundi  - Food we talked about: Sunfood Coconut Wraps | Sun Potion - Books we talked about: Setting The Table | Shoe Dog | Sweetbitter (also a TV show) - Beauty store we talked about: CAP Beauty - We also talked about: The Old Inn on The Green | Eleven Maddison Park and their Hamptons pop-up | The Herbal Academy of Massachusetts | Wilson's Ceramics | Hippocrates Health Institute  | Human Design with Jenna Zoe - Information about Synovial Sarcoma from MD Anderson -La Saison Napa Valley Anandamide Bars Recipe that Laura talked about on full show notes page : http://katiedalebout.com/podcast/laura-wagstaff/ Album art by Zoie HarmanAll original music composed by Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs   Cool Things to Check-Out: -Come to my Full Moon journaling workshop with Splendid Spoon. I’ve been a huge fan of Four Sigmatic's products and company for years. If you haven’t tried them yet or aren’t sure who they are - Four Sigmatic creates delicious and easy-to-make mushroom beverages with a wide variety of superfood (aka super-good-for-you) ingredients for just about any kind of mood you are in or time of day.
