In this video, I talk to Ryan Hawk about how decision-making is something you get better at by actually doing it, not just reading about it. I share how my dad let me make small, low-risk decisions as a kid, which helped me build that skill early. Now I’m doing the same with my own kids. We also touched on what I learned from college sports and how trying to protect people from every struggle they face can backfire over time. You can’t outsource judgment. You can’t simulate pressure. The only way to build that muscle is to make the call, see what happens, and learn from it. Most people are so afraid of being wrong that they never get enough experience to get good. But if you start when the stakes are low, you build real confidence over time.
