Feminism, Patriarchy, Marriage and Simple Steps Towards an Equal Society Ft. Author Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi
I am a feminist and I feel that we all should be feminists. If you didn’t know, feminism doesn’t mean female superiority. It means equity and equality for women. And yes it’s still very much relevant because women are nowhere equal to men whether at workplaces or at homes. Talking about feminism is very important to me and this episode is all about it. I’m speaking with Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi who is an accomplished author besides being an endocrinologist. I read her book The School for Bad Girls and was shocked by how little we know about women’s condition in previous centuries. Even more shocking was the fact that a lot of things are still the same for us. Women have progressed but the men and society as a whole hasn’t progressed as much. Madhurima’s book is about one of India’s first doctors Dr. Kadambini Ganguly but it’s way more than a story. In the episode, author Dr. Madhurima Vidyarthi and I talk about feminism, marriage, men’s role in society, patriarchy, life and a few things we can do to create a society of equals. We discuss both history and the current scenario. Lots to think about and even more to take away, so join us.
