Ep 35 Human First, Therapist Second with Amanda E. White
Amanda E. White is a licensed therapist and the creator of the popular Instagram account @therapyforwomen. She specializes in teaching women how to set boundaries, engage in real self-care, and work through shame. She is the founder of "Therapy for Women Center" based in Philadelphia but now serving clients across the country. She is forthright in her recovery from an addiction and eating disorder and in her clinical work, Amanda specializes in supporting clients in the overlap and intersection of both. Amanda is the author of the forthcoming book, “Not Drinking Tonight: A Therapist’s Guide to Creating A Sober Life You Love.” Amanda is also an experienced registered yoga teacher and leads yoga and mental health retreats around the world. We talk with with Amanda about the value in working with a therapist who has faced similar struggles to the ones you’re facing, how social media can be a powerful mechanism for increasing exposure to mental health principles, and how great our capacity to heal is when being witnessed in community. We love the relatable perspective Amanda brings to doing our inner work, and we know you will too!
