Though statins have been used for decades to fight heart disease, new research suggests an opposite effect: long-term statin use could actually be accelerating heart failure. “Statins impair the production of vitamin K, an essential vitamin in managing calcification,” reports The Epoch Times. “The researchers conclude statin side effects, including statin cardiomyopathy, ‘are far more common than previously published…’” Emily Kaplan has spent over 17 years as an investigative journalist covering topics including violent crime, technology, and health.
