Raheem Sisson & Jeff Armstrong are two strong leaders in the running community. They elevate, amplify, support, educate, show up, affirm, walk through, and create community. - Raheem is the captain of the Denver chapter of Black Men Run. Jeff is the international captain and international ambassador and chief motivational officer of Black Men Run. - We chat about: *Raheem is head captain of the Denver BMR chapter from Harlem, NY. *Jeff is originally from Eldorado, AK. *Jeff and his love/hate relationship with running *helping African American men be healthy *Why there is a need for Black Men Run? Because the numbers don’t lie: Among Blacks age 20 and older, 44.4% of men have Cardiovascular Diseases In 2009, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) caused the deaths of 21,051 Black males have a risk of first-ever stroke that is almost twice that of whites Heart disease is the #1 cause of death for African American males *giving Black people a sense of hope *building a healthy brotherhood with unity and camaraderie *being there for one another *"it"s not about being the fastest or being the best, it"s about bringing your best" -Raheem *working through mental health issues together *BROTHERHOOD of love!!!
