81. Anxiety and Suicidal Ideation with Jayne Wesler

In today's episode, I have the opportunity to speak with Jayne Wesler about her new book Railroaded, which tells the story of a young ADHD man surrounded by a rash of recent suicides.   We also chat about the shame epidemic of ADHD, the pressures of today's children and teens, and key skills children and teens must learn and that parents must model.   Importantly, we talk about what to watch out for in case a child may experience suicidal ideation and how we can support them.    And, sprinkled along the way, I mention some scary research, such as the link between media and teen suicide (whether social media or shows, such as the 30% increase in suicide after the show 13 Reasons Why aired) and even the strong association between suicide-story publicity and subsequent airplane and automobile accidents.   Don't miss today's important episode!
