Today on Overpowering Emotions I discuss how to guide kids in recognizing, accepting, and channeling their feelings to make better decisions and develop stronger emotional intelligence. I provide lots of practical strategies and actionable tools for emotional check-ins so you leave with concrete steps to create calm, confident, and emotionally aware kids. Tune in for insights on how emotions shape behavior and how simple shifts can lead to lasting emotional growth. Homework Ideas: Daily Emotional Check-ins. Practice asking, “How does your body feel right now? Is your energy high or low? Do you feel pleasant or unpleasant? Emotion Wheel Activity: Create or print an emotion wheel. Have your child spin and share a memory related to the emotion it lands on. Mood Jar. Use colored pom-poms or beads to represent emotions at the end of each day. Body Scan Exercise. Guide kids through quick check-ins: “How does your chest feel? Is your heart racing or slow? How is your breathing? Emotion Dance Party. Play different types of music and encourage kids to move based on how the music makes them feel. By incorporating these simple but effective practices into daily routines, you’ll nurture emotional intelligence in your kids while creating opportunities for reflection, connection, and growth.   Want to learn more about helping kids strengthen their emotion regulation skills and problem-solving brains while boosting their confidence, independence, and resilience?
