Today we’re getting under the hood with Shubhra Sharma a daughter, sister, friend, women’s advocate and the founder of CRIA Hair, a holistic hair wellness startup that champions minimalist, life-affirming products designed for women 40+. Her 30-year career highlights include empowering girls and women across cultures and economies by implementing literacy programs that increased women"s literacy rates from 3% to 80% in some of the most economically depressed and violence-affected regions of India within a decade. Shubhra co-founded Khabar Lahariya, a groundbreaking rural women’s newspaper that became the subject of the OSCAR-nominated documentary Writing with Fire (2022). She has led women and gender studies programs at premier U.S. institutions, including Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Shubhra’s life and work are built on four core values: trust, empathy, connection, and community—the same values that strengthen and empower women. At the heart of every project and initiative she undertakes are grit and gumption—powerful qualities that she inherited from my mother and grandmothers.
