Chairman Jay Clayton began his career as a clerk for the Honorable Marvin Katz of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He then joined the Wall Street law firm of Sullivan & Cromwell where he advised market participants on capital raising and regulatory enforcement, until 2017, when he was nominated to chair the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
