USPTO sends layoff notices after Trump administration threatened shutdown RIFs

The Trump administration warned of layoffs across the federal workforce if a government shutdown occurred. So far, only one agency has actually done that. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office sent reduction in force notices to some of its employees on day one of the shutdown as part of an agency reorganization. Top administration officials say there's more to come.
