Bloomberg Intelligence hosted by Paul Sweeney and Alix Steel  Today’s Podcast Features are:  Stephanie Guichard, Senior Economist at the Conference Board, discusses consumer confidence data. US consumer confidence fell in March to the lowest level in four years on concerns about higher prices and the economic outlook amid the Trump administration’s escalating tariffs. Drew Reading, Bloomberg Intelligence U.S Homebuilding Analyst, discusses new home sales. Sales of new homes in the US bounced back slightly last month from a rocky start to 2025 as homebuilders benefited from better weather while leaning on generous sales incentives to stoke demand. Grace Lee, Senior Portfolio Manager for Columbia Threadneedle, discusses her outlook for the markets. Grace discusses recent eco data and the impact of tariffs on investment outlook. She’s hopeful that April 2nd will provide companies with greater certainty, but most companies have been game-planning for a while, and have offered frameworks to think about impacts. Grace expects some tariff uncertainty will continue even after 4/2 (eg autos, pharma, semiconductors, etc.) Mandeep Singh, Bloomberg Intelligence Senior Tech Industry Analyst, discusses senior foreign officials and major tech companies pushing the Trump administration to rethink the country’s global semiconductor strategy. This comes as the US prepares a controversial framework for controlling artificial intelligence development around the world.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
