Dr. Nina Shapiro is the Director of Pediatric Otolaryngology and Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She also wrote a book called HYPE: A Doctor's Guide to Medical Myths, Exaggerated Claims and Bad Advice-- How to Tell What's Real and What's Not, to stop our heads from spinning from overwhelming rapid-fire health information. She’s appeared on many broadcast programs, including CBS’s “The Early Show,” “Extra,” CNN and National Public Radio. She is a regular guest on the Emmy-Award winning television show “The Doctors,” and her work has been featured and published in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Hollywood Reporter, Redbook. Prevention, First for Women, Real Simple and many other print and online publications. Dr. Shapiro is a prolific blogger and major contributor to academic publications with more than 80 peer-reviewed publications and more than 200 national and international scientific presentations to her credit.
