She also shared with us how she volunteered for 5 months on AmeriCorps which changed her life. She was born in the suburbs of California with three younger siblings. She grew up in a harsh environment. With her abusive father around, she got traumatized and even thought of ending her life. Lorna also mentioned how journaling is her way to let out all of her feelings. She uses it to document her life. Her life in Alaska changed her for the better. She thought going back to California would make her return to her old self which scared her so much. All these worries washed out when she remained to be the better version of herself even after returning.
