006 Michael Ray: Fatherhood & the Gifts of Unexpected Responsibility
Michael has an abundance of positivity, emotion, love & energy. He became a dad at 49, a single dad at 50, a solo dad at 51, set an Australian Powerlifting Record at 54, began studying Development Psychology at 56, and wrote his first book at 58. —-- “We’re all a work in progress…I am eternally curious.” —-- Michael is not our typical kind of guest. Most people interviewed have been highly successful at climbing the corporate ladder, building amazing entrepreneurial businesses or keynote speakers to tens of thousands of corporate and government employees. But this podcast isn’t about financial success. It’s about holistic success. Success with Purpose. The position Michael has climbed to, the title he’s earned, and the role which inspires so many would best be described as “Charlie’s Dad”. —---- “Great parents don’t hoard power, they give it away” —-- In this conversation, we talk about inequality, stereotypes and breaking the bias against all genders & roles. We speak a great deal about parenting styles, the roles of fathers vs mothers, self-regulation & making decisions that invest in the next generation making the future a better place. —--- “Things just are. But your attitude towards them can change” —--- This conversation is about leadership in all areas of our lives, creating our own destiny and living life true to your values. Don’t just follow the heard and fit into stereotypes. Challenge the norms, challenge society & challenge yourself. You won’t regret it.
