007 Ben Mcevoy: Create Your Own Path in Life to Where You Choose to Be
Ben has chosen his own path. He started as an engineer in 2001 at Lendlease. 5 years later he became a finance manager, moved his way up to being national manager of project accounting & reporting, went to another big company as finance director, ran his own consulting business for 8 months, became 2nd in command to the CFO at Buildcorp and 1 year later became CFO. And this whole time, he’s managed to build stronger connections with his wife & 2 daughters. He’s present with them and has been a source of inspiration for Harry as a young dad. This analogy-filled conversation is filled with exceptional insights and perspectives about surrounding yourself with the right people, seeking out the right challenges, learning to move away from other challenges, enjoying life and what success really is. "There were people I looked up to, people aspired to...where if I was doing that in 20 years time, I'd be really cool with that" This conversation is about identifying your 10 year flag on the hill. Identifying your why, your principles & your values to make the right decisions for you and everyone else in your life. "If you have that goal, that flag on the hill, saying where you want to go then it's easier to get the most of those situations." Because at the end of your life, your success is never yours alone. It's always with support from others and to the benefit (or detriment) of others. This is a longer episode so… Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
