Season 77, Episode 914: The Beyond Order Series: Rule 9
"Something we cannot see protects us from something we do not understand. The thing we cannot see is culture, in its intrapsychic or internal manifestation. The thing we do not understand is the chaos that gave rise to culture. If the structure of culture is disrupted, unwittingly, chaos returns. We will do anything - anything - to defend ourselves against that return." - Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief We are continuing our series today with our very own Jay Doran going through Dr. Jordan B. Peterson"s book, Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life, and giving his own interpretation of the text. Today, our focus is on rule number nine which states: "If old memories still upset you, write them down carefully and completely." Every single person walking around this Earth has had things happen to them that have left marks and permanent impressions. How we deal with those things and the memories that they have left is part of what defines who we are as individuals. This rule is all about dealing with those things in a healthy and constructive way which is something we can all benefit from. We hope you enjoy this episode of The Culture Matters Podcast.
