This conversation was one that I wished I had had 18-months ago when Charles passed – to be able to have Charles at home with us as we said goodbye to him wouldn’t have made the decision any easier, but it would have made the process so much more private. I’m not saying that the process at a Vet isn’t compassionate or thoughtful, but not having to walk out into a waiting room full of heathy dogs with my cheeks still wet from crying to pay the final bill is a much better way to start the grieving process.
