RED SOX POSTCAST: Weissert Gives Up Slam & Sox Fail to Sweep Reds

The Red Sox (43-45) were unable to get back to .500 and complete a series sweep over the Cincinnati Reds with the Reds coming up with an 8-4 win in the nightcap Wednesday night at Fenway. Christian Encarnacion-Stand highlighted the Reds 5-run 7th Inning with a Grand Slam off of Greg Weissert. The Reds are the only club that still has not been swept in a series this season. It's the 20th blown lead of the seaeson for the Red Sox.         ----- Sox at the Dish: Trevor Story went 1-for-4 with an RBI Double in the suspended game and 3-for-4 with a Double in the nightcap and has hit safely in 5 in a row and 6 of 7. Story has 8 RBIs over his last 7 Games. Story reached with a 2-out Single in the 6th and Wilyer Abreu made it 3-0 with a 2-run Home Run to right-field. It was Abreu's 3rd Home Run of the series and he now has 12 RBIs over his last 5 Games. Roman Anthony went 0-for-4 in the 2nd game, ending his career-high 5-Game Hit Streak (9 Hits).     ----- Suspended Game: The Red Sox came from behind and won Tuesday's suspended game, 5-3, Wednesday afternoon. Brayan Bello gave up 2 runs over 5 innings in a relief outing and notched the win. Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 9th for his 15th save. Wilyer Abreu broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI Single and Trevor Story made it 5-3 with an RBI Double in the 8th.          ----- #'s of the DAY: The Red Sox had 6 extra-base hits in the loss to the Reds and have 32 extra-base hits over the last 5 Games. The Red Sox are (11-10) in inter-league play with the next 2 series also against NL clubs. The Sox are now 17-19 with Alex Bregman out of the lineup since his injury.
