Neal works with a team of fire behaviour specialists, weather forecasters, data scientists, researchers, and software developers to deliver wildfire predictions, scientific analyses, technology, and expertise to enhance operational decision making. Neal was first introduced to wildfire management as an Alberta Junior Forest Ranger in 1999. Throughout his career in wildfire Neal has provided predictive services to planners and incident management teams, coordinated regional wildfire management planning, co-authored scientific papers on wildfire hazard and risk, instructed national and international fire simulation modelling courses, and led development of wildfire prediction software. Outside of work Neal is a musician and outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, biking, and skiing with his wife and three children.
