Mindfulness, Values, and Openness as Facets of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusivity in Coaching with Merlinder Orjela
Merlinder Orjela is an executive, leadership, transitions, wellbeing & resilience, and DE&I coach. She enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and seeing them progress and develop. She believes in creating space to reflect & understand, simplifying the complex, and prioritizing what is important. Merlinder is also a coach educator, holding a CMC to mentor coaches and currently does mentor coaching for ICF ACC and PCC (group and 1:1), group coaching for coaches, eLearning/self-led courses, and supervision. Her approach to coaching education and development is focused on the individual, meeting the coach where they are, and co-creating the learning process with them. She believes in enhancing and focusing coaches to develop their skills, while respecting and appreciating their individual style. DE&I is an important area to her and something she is passionate about seeing change in (even if it feels slow sometimes), it is an area she coaches, facilitates, consults, and speaks on. She loves to learn and has an educational background in business, coaching, project management, nutrition, mediation (conflict resolution), DE&I, and mindfulness and yoga teacher trainings. Prior to coaching she worked in HR and Project Management for the biotech industry, including both established and start-up departments and companies. In her spare time, she loves to discover and learn new things, travel, experiment in the kitchen, enjoy good food, hiking, practice yoga & mindfulness, and spend time with family and friends. Understand a bit more about DE&I specifically related to coaching and coach development. At some point most coaches will have clients come to coaching with a DE&I related topic, whether that is linked to leadership, allyship, people dealing with discrimination of some kind, processing DE&I topics, or just wanting to get more comfortable communicating on DE&I. We will also discuss DE&I from a broader perspective and give different perspectives, some approaches and to get you to think about your own solutions or ways forwards.
