72 Wisdoms Author Jeff Rasley Returns
Midsummer Books just published my 14th book, 72 Wisdoms. The book includes 72 short story-essay-memoir pieces inspired by, among other things, experiences in and people I've met in the Nepal and India Himalayas. But the "wisdoms" come from a wide range of sources – people as different as The Dalai Lama and Mike Tyson, John Lennon and Jesus, Einstein and Dr. Seuss. Lao Tzu and Socrates, Buddhist monks, a Shakespearean tragedy, 19th and 20th Century poetry, the movie Blade Runner, and Louis (Satchmo) Armstrong are some of the other sources of the wisdoms. The topics range from ordinary concerns to the deepest philosophical questions. The short personal essays are enlivened with humorous observations and probing questions. It will deepen your understanding of how to live a meaningful life. If you are interested, you can check out a description of the book on its Amazon page at: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BJYGHZCM One of my favorite Hoosier authors and philosophers, Kurt Vonnegut (1922 – 2007), explained to the graduating seniors in a college commencement address how acquiring wisdom makes you and the world better. “By working so hard at becoming wise and reasonable and well-informed, you have made our little planet, our precious little moist, blue-green ball, a saner place than it was before you got here.” This book guides the reader through 72 different topics on the pathway toward a saner planet and a wiser you.
