Grandpa Bill today talks Language Learning. Foreign Language Learning.+ Many westerners, perhaps we seniors for sure, may be naturally intimidated by the thought of learning Chinese (or any foreign language)online especially through online Chinese lessons. The reason for this is of course the great contrast between Chinese and languages spoken in Europe and North America. But different doesn’t necessarily mean more difficult. In fact, in many ways Chinese is easier to learn than English or French. Whereas English students have to deal with differences between past, present, and future,and/ or singular, and plural forms of nouns, no such distinctions exist in Chinese. This is basically how my 16 year old granddaughter has broken it down to me as to how she mastered Mandarin Speaking & Writing the language.
