Kirtti Sharma shares her journey of overcoming an abusive marriage, highlighting the emotional and physical struggles she endured, including societal pressures that stifled her individuality. As a child, she would pray daily to escape her father's violent behavior. After recognizing the toxic dynamics of her relationship, she, with her mother’s help, escaped the clutches of her abusive husband. It took years to break free from the cycle of abuse. With her mother’s courage and determination, she divorced her husband for her children’s sake. As Kirtti reflects on her life, her abusive marriage was an outgrowth of her relationship with her abusive father. We can become assimilated with those with whom we strongly disagree. Her father was a person with alcoholism who came home daily to terrorize his family. Despite her past, she acknowledges she is stronger and more prosperous, having endured the experience. My father's death took me on a spiritual path, which helped me to focus on my soul's journey and walk on a spiritual path. She encourages everyone not to be ashamed to discuss domestic violence.
