In this episode of “Keen On”, Andrew is joined by Andrew Pettegree and Arthur der Weduwen, the co-authors of “The Library: A Fragile History”, to discuss the history of libraries and the people who built them, from the ancient world to the digital age. Andrew Pettegree is Professor of Modern History at St Andrews University, where he directs the Universal Short Title Catalogue, a database of information about all books published before 1650. A leading expert on the history of book and media transformations, Pettegree is the award-winning author of several books on the subject. Arthur der Weduwen is a writer, historian and postdoctoral fellow at the University of St Andrews. He is interested in cultural and political history, especially that of the early modern period (c. 1500-1800). Arthur's research focusses on the history of news, books, libraries, communication and politics.
