Writer, Director, and Filmmaker, Sahra V. Nguyen applies storytelling to succeed in painting, writing about race and identity, producing eye-opening documentaries, and launching businesses. Guest Biography Sahra Nguyen is a first generation Vietnamese American and quintessential Millennial of the “Slash Generation.” She is Founder/CEO of Nguyen Coffee Supply, the first ever Vietnamese-American-owned importer, supplier, and roaster of green coffee beans from Vietnam in New York. Her multifaceted creative career includes award-winning documentary filmmaker behind NBC News’ “Deported,” co-founder of New York Times reviewed restaurant “Lucy’s Vietnamese Kitchen,” co-founder of podcasting agency “Listening Party,” and a 2018 Google Next Gen Tech Policy Leader. Nguyen is the daughter of Vietnamese refugees, who fled their country by boat after the Vietnam War, and eventually settled in Boston, MA, where she was born and raised. Sahra has written for NBC News, The Huffington Post, and Complex on topics including race, identity, social justice, immigration, the Vietnamese American experience, and entrepreneurship. With the vision to frame people of color as innovative and creative leaders, she created, produced, directed and filmed 9 short documentaries about New York City entrepreneurs of color in a series titled, "Maker's Lane," which was co-presented by the Smithsonian.
