Grace Carter: From Iron Sharpens Iron to Lifelong Growth /Ep3613
Welcome to the world of Grace Carter, whose journey was shaped by faith, family, resilience, and determination. It has unfolded into a vibrant tapestry of purpose and passion. This is where resilience meets joy, and challenges transform into opportunities! Roots: Born into a family of determined survivors on a military base in Newport, Rhode Island, Grace's early years were influenced by the legacy of her family elders rooted in the Jim Crow segregated South in the United States. Growing up amid the civil rights movement, she was instilled with a belief in her capacity, capability, and responsibility to carry the hope of generations for full participatory rights. Career Evolution: A Counselor's vision of potential led to a high school job in a law library that cultivated a love of the law, acceptance in law school, and landing her first lawyer job as a Law and Education Policy Analyst. From here, Grace's career path took shape. Despite the odds, she founded a law practice, and weathered divorce and single motherhood to become a successful and respected attorney with a thriving practice. A marriage in 2000 led her to sell her practice, move to California, and work as an attorney with the Social Security Administration. This position again altered her trajectory, leading to a 15-year tenure as an Administrative Judge for the U.S. Merit Systems Board. Hero's Journey: Grace's hero's journey continues post-retirement. She has earned multiple coaching certifications, including Rapid Coaching, California Collaborative Coaching, and Creative Results Coaching Mastery. Today, she serves as Of Counsel at Gilbert Employment Law, where she provides counsel in cases and mentors early-career legal professionals. She spends her days facilitating groups and engaging in one-on-one coaching. Diverse Expertise: In addition to being an attorney and certified mediator, Grace is certified in Emotional Culture Deck Facilitation, Mastermind Facilitation, and Embodied Conflict. Grace brings a unique blend of skills to her one-on-one coaching and mastermind facilitation. She approaches every engagement with humor, confidence, curiosity, and a passion for discovering solutions. Beyond the Desk: Grace is not just a professional; she's a runner, a marathoner, an avid reader, and a writer.
