While many pro-Palestinian protests across the country called for a ceasefire in Gaza, there were demonstrators who preached hatred and messages of anti-Semitism. This spurred House Republicans to pass a bill adopting a more fleshed-out definition of anti-Semitism from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. The bill passed; however, some Democrats and Republicans who voted against the measure say it could infringe upon free speech.
