Episode 280 - The challenge of art in a place like Lincolnshire feat Ryan Gilmartin
This week I sit down with actor, teacher and overall performance creator @ryangilmartin5876 as we talk about a challenge. Ryan like myself is from a background in small towns and villages but also like me has been and seen plenty of the world. Creating shows and experiences Ryan mixes history, folklore and insight to try and bring more creative opportunities to the world. So this week we talk about the challenge of doing that in smaller and more rural places. Embracing the native homesteads and looking at how places like the East Midlands, Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and Humberside (I could keep going) face a challenge with not only finding creative and conceptually forward spaces but how generating those places can be a challenge too. To bring something not purely functional to an area where frivolity is met with suspicion is a challenge and a topic close to my core! I do suggest you check out Ryan and what he's up to. At the time this episode goes live he's performing in "Henry the VIII used to hate us" and tickets are available across the east of England. It's only $1 or £1 depending on your location and means this can be a truly not for profit creation! Thanks for your time and Hope you have a great year Graham Hosted on Acast.
