Ep #100: "The Future of Work is Neuroinclusion and Accessibility" with Jamie Shields
I am celebrating my 100th podcast episode (Neuroqueering and Let Pleasure Be the Measure combined) with one of my new favorite people and the inspiration for my future work as I lean into creating cultures of neuroinclusion and accessibility. All the way from northern Ireland, welcome Jamie Shields! Jamie Shields is a registered blind AuDHD speaker, trainer, and consultant, who works with individuals and brands, helping them make inclusive accessible change. He is also the creator of Disabled by Society. Jamie and I talk about DEIB, including the concept of neurobelonging, an internal sense of belonging and self-acceptance. I ask "How do we get leaders of organizations to care about disability and accessibility before it is their own lived experience?" This leads to an important conversation about power, privilege, anger, ableism, discrimination, neurodiversity, and the importance of inclusive language.
