Julia Gamolina on Breaking the Architect's Mold
Julia is many things. Woman. Immigrant. Architect. Writer. Cornell Graduate. Director of Strategy at Trahan Architects. Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Madame Architect. The latter is her brainchild and arguably her most well-known work; an online magazine about, by, and for the women that shape the built environment. What is so special about the work she is doing with Madame Architect? Her commitment is to profile women in all stages of their careers, who break the mold of what an architect is, and create space for more diversity in the field. She breaks that mold, too. She’s applied her knack for writing and expertise in architecture along with her inquisitive nature and ability to connect with people to build a platform that has now interviewed over 150 architects and designers, as well as CEOs, publicists, journalists, business strategists, and more. She is also the Director of Strategy of the up-and-coming Trahan Architects. A rising tide that raises all ships—Julia’s efforts in building a culture of community and collaboration give these diverse stories, perspectives, and the women they belong to a seat at the table.
