Dave Stevens - Turning Disability into Ability - Creating a "Leglessy" in Sports
Dave Stevens is the only legless player in sports history to have played NCAA Football and minor league baseball. He had professional tryouts with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL and the Minnesota Twins and Cincinnati Reds in MLB. He's been featured on every television network and virtually every magazine and newspaper in the country. Once retired from sports, he moved into broadcasting where he has won 7 emmys as a sports journalist working for ESPN and other networks. He is the father of 3 teen boys and is a Professional in Residence at Quinnipiac University, and oversees the new Ability Media initiative at the college, teaching media and production to disabled students. He helps create job opportunity and careers for his students with disabilities. Dave is not the host of a syndicated National Podcast and is a highly sought after Motivational Speaker. He also puts on sports camps for disabled children across the county. Dave comes on the podcast to discuss his journey, how he overcame his disability to perform at high levels.
