College or Apprenticeship training? ~ The future of Hairdressing Education
Send us a text College or Apprenticeship training? ~ The future of Hairdressing Education Mariana began her hairdressing education as a mature student of 25. After qualifying, she was keen to become an educator, and now teaches level 2 & 3 hairdressing at North Kent College. She wants to instil a passion for the industry into her students. She shares how the Lee Stafford academy approach within the College has provided systemised learning, with "recipes" that the students can follow for success. We discuss how the changes in the minimum wage and budget may reduce the amount of apprenticeships available and she challenges the stigma around a college hairdressing education, and the high standard of facilities they have. Mariana believes that there are still great opportunities for people who want to enter the hairdressing industry, and that CPD is important to remain current and relevant.
