Changing Australia: Jennifer Burn and fighting slavery and human trafficking
While public awareness is increasing, slavery, human trafficking and forced marriage are still often hidden issues in Australia. And at a specialised law centre in Sydney, their case loads are growing, helping hundreds of people each year. The founder of this pro bono centre at the University of Technology, Professor Jennifer Burn, has been at the forefront of change for years, influencing state and national legislation, education, and tirelessly campaigning for better prevention and a national compensation scheme for victims and survivors. Guest: Professor Jennifer Burn, founding director of Anti-Slavery Australia at UTS and Interim Anti-Slavery Commissioner for NSW from 2018 to 2020.
