This January, Penguin Random House is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the blockbuster Ordinary People Change the World series, which has 7 million copies in print and multiple Emmy nominations for the TV show based on it. The newest book, I AM RUTH BADER GINSBURG, is one of the most demanded heroes and is the 32nd in the series. To write these books, Brad has worked with everyone from Dolly Parton, Billie Jean King and Jane Goodall -- all of whom helped with their I AM book – as well as with the estates of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr., and so many others. For this newest book, Justice Ginsburg’s daughter was a mentor of Brad, giving him unprecedented access to stories and photos. Brad came up with the idea for the books when he realized his young daughter was only reading books about princesses. He wanted her to have real-life heroes to learn about. His daughter is now in college, as are a generation of kids raised on this series. Some of his most well-known books have been banned and challenged (I am Rosa Parks and I am Martin Luther King, Jr.), but Brad is one of the few authors who’s been able to fight back, win, and get his books reinstated. Many celebrities have been gifting the series of the books to friends. I can name drop if you want. He told me a few. Brad has numerous bestselling thrillers, non-fiction history books, and even comic books, which is why the Hollywood Reporter put him on their list of the 25 Most Powerful Authors. He even makes history himself, finding the missing 9/11 flag with his History Channel TV show. In fact, when President George H.W. Bush was on his deathbed, he had his favorite authors come read to him…and Brad was one of them. He’s spent a lot of time in the WHite House with many U.S. Presidents and has so many stories.
