Bigfoot Pack Surrounds Marines In 1974, on a Marine Corps base in North Carolina, five combat-hardened Marines, including a sniper with Vietnam experience, encountered four Sasquatches while fishing near a river. Initially enjoying a peaceful day by a bridge and small island, their outing turned terrifying when they heard massive, bipedal creatures crashing through dense, snake-infested brush, hurling branches, and emitting bone-rattling screams. The creatures, one of which was glimpsed as an eight-foot-tall, rust-haired figure with broad shoulders, executed a series of bluff charges toward the group, alternating from both sides of the river in a seemingly coordinated effort. Retreating to the island for safety, the Marines endured fifteen minutes of this ordeal before the Sasquatches, possibly working as a group to herd them, fled downstream and upriver, leaving the men shaken and determined to keep the incident secret to protect their careers, forever altering their perception of the wilderness.
