Dr. Charles Zuta The Cuyahoga River in Ohio has caught fire on 12 previous occasions, but the fire in 1969 finally got the attention of the US govt to the fact that, ordinarily, Rivers don"t burn. The Govt"s response was the formation of the EPA in 1970 to control pollution in the US. The dust bowl of the 1930"s due to poor land tenure system and agricultural practices elicited similar response with the formation of the National Soil Conservation service, part of the USDA. The Bible likewise provides guidelines which God has put in place to safeguard the sustainable utilization of the earth"s resources. Humanity often pay a steep price when the wisdom embodied in these guidelines are violated.
