Tolkien (John Ronald Reuel) was an English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor.  He was best known as the author of the classic works The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings...however, he has published more than 30 books, several posthumously. Tolkien spoke 17 languages and had a deep understanding of how language evolves and develops. There is a traveling Tolkien exhibition in collaboration with Oxford university which was the in NYC but I believe is currently in Paris... and there is a Tolkien museum in Switzerland.
