24. Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month
Hello Future Nurses!!! In addition to March being DVT Awareness Month it is also Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Month. So in today’s episode we will be learning about MS. An estimated 1 million people live with MS in the United States. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, and it affects women three times more than men. Sadly, there is no cure. As nurses our goal is to help our patients live as independently as they can with MS by ensuring they are educated about the disease process, making their home safe, and assessing the need for mental health support. In this week's episode of The Nursing School Simplified Podcast, you will learn the etiology, signs and symptoms, disease management, nursing considerations, and patient teaching.
