Walter Isaacson is an American writer, journalist, and historian who is known for his biographies of some of the world's most influential figures in history and technology. He was born on May 20, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Isaacson graduated from Harvard University in 1974 and went on to study at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. He began his journalism career at The Sunday Times of London and later worked for Time magazine, where he served as the managing editor from 1996 to 2001. Isaacson has written several acclaimed biographies, including "Steve Jobs," which chronicles the life of the co-founder of Apple, and "Leonardo da Vinci," which explores the life and work of the Italian Renaissance artist and inventor. His other biographies include "Einstein: His Life and Universe," "Benjamin Franklin: An American Life," and "Kissinger: A Biography." In addition to his biographical works, Isaacson has also written on other topics related to history and technology. He served as the CEO of the Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan educational and policy studies organization, from 2003 to 2018. He has also been a commentator on CNN and other media outlets. Isaacson has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the National Book Award for "Einstein: His Life and Universe" and the Benjamin Franklin Medal in Computer and Cognitive Science.
