Author and #lawyer Heather McGhee (@heathercmcghee)’s career path is nothing short of amazing. Having started out by getting a B.A. in American Studies from Yale, she moved on to teaching English in Barcelona. Her next step involved getting a J.D. from UC Berkeley (no small feat!) and then, launching a career in law. For McGhee, fighting inequality in the US has become her life’s mission. For about two decades she worked for Demos, a non-profit liberal think tank, at one point serving as its president. McGhee has consistently spoken out against racism and the social ills caused by it. She delivered a TED lecture entitled “Racism has a cost for everyone” and wrote the book “The Sum of Us: What Racism Costs Everyone and How We Can Prosper Together.” Heather is currently the chair of the board at Color of Change, the country’s largest online racial justice organization. She also takes part in other social justice movements. Listen to her interviews on Padverb
